Process control simulator software for gas treatment and compression units: System design automation

This paper justifies development of control room workstation simulators assumed to benefit process control system security and efficiency. It identifies common difficulties arising with control simulator wide-scale introduction into the industry and describes a new approach to simulator building in terms of knowledge engineering. These streamlined process control simulator software design tools are expected to essentially cut time typically required for gas treatment plant operator training. This system simulates process control workstation operators and process flow, in addition to a range of emergencies and remedy action evaluation. A dedicated simulator model was specifically developed for this process, it offers higher accuracy and is easy to use. Such techniques are believed to benefit model building by professionals with no modelling skills.
