Gas distribution stations are integral part of a Russian-wide gas supply system and are known to be critical for its normal operation. Their operating performance has become central for Gazprom’s 2015 Science and Technology Policy Concept. Presently, 4,232 gas stations are running across Russia, totalling over 180 million m3 hourly capacity. Given the progressively ageing distribution station equipment, timely maintenance and diagnostics are believed essential for continued operation. This paper addresses a gas distribution station diagnostics optimisation methodology, key requirements to this continuous monitoring system, and the key goals which are viewed central for progressive introduction of efficient maintenance tools as well as continuous monitoring and diagnostic practices.
