This Common Concept for Russian upstream oil and gas safety protection system is built around a series of targeted R&D projects undertaken in recent years domestically. The entire system focuses on multiple process automation tools designed for early detection and avoidance of technology- driven emergencies, especially those with most costly implications. This approach is expected to cut most risks associated with undesirable developments under normal oil and gas industry operations. In general terms, the system, coupled with follow-up modifications, can be positioned as a basic technology component of Russian Unified Emergency Rescue Service originally designed to prohibit wide-scale technology-related catastrophic implications.
